Gōng xǐ fā cái
I’m currently stuffed full from the scrumptious delights at my family’s Chinese New Year reunion dinner. Here’s wishing everybody a prosperous new year. Let the red packets come rolling in baby!
To those in Australia, Happy Australia Day! Oh and Rachel, Happy Birthday!

A haircut
As gratuitously pictured on my latest (first?) GPOYW, I’m needing a haircut. I’m not very creative when it comes to hair, so what do you think? Any suggestions?

Tattoos? Ugh
In the 1950s and 1960s, a person who had tattoos on his body was reckoned to be either a sailor or a member of a secret society. Nothing wrong with being a navy sailor or a merchant seaman, but defacing one’s skin was considered beyond the pale. No self-respecting parent would allow his sons or daughters to chak ang kong (hokkien for tattooing).
Those who sported tattoos were more than...

In Search Of Self-Growth: How effective a person...
This post concludes the three part series on overcoming barriers to a better life, through psychology.
The self-efficacy scale (Dr. James E. Maddux): This questionnaire is designed to measure your capability of effectiveness.
I scored averagely in this concluding test, landing at the 50th percentile. According to Dr. Janda, high scorers in this test tend to feel more confident about their...

Interpersonal Barriers: How friendly are you?
This is part two of a three part series on overcoming barriers to a better life, through psychology.
The friendliness scale / SACRAL Test (J. M. Reisman): This questionnaire is designed to measure the four qualities of friendliness.
Psychologist John Reisman argued that existing definitions of friendliness were virtually indistinguishable from other personality characteristics such as...

Personal Barriers: How do you feel about yourself?
This is part one of a three part series on overcoming barriers to a better life, through psychology.
The self-esteem rating scale (Dr. William R. Nugent): This questionnaire is designed to measure how you feel about yourself.
I just found out that I really do not feel good about myself. In fact, I’m less than 15% of the people who took this same test, as part of Dr. William R....

A visit to the psychologist-in-a-book
Psychological tests are useful tools that can help individuals identify the barriers standing between them and a more fulfilling personal and professional life — and figure out how they may overcome them.
I picked up a book of personality tests, written by psychologist Dr. Louis Janda, on one of my recent visits to the library. These tests are developed by behavioral researchers, and they...

Attention shoppers
Chances are you’ve came across an Apple Retail Store at some point, and even if you’ve never owned an Apple product, nor even had the desire to, you’ve gone in just to take a look.
Well today, Microsoft counters the Apple Retail Store with “Retail Experience Center”, a name that both lacks the company’s brand and contains far too many meaningless syllables.
For fuck’s...

Fined for sleeping?
A private bus driver, known only as Kassim, has had the unfortunate honour of being the first Singaporean to be fined for sleeping.
He was fined $200 when he dozed off on a park bench. The National Parks Board (NParks) fined the private bus driver for having misused the park facility by sleeping on the bench. At that time, two NParks rangers approached him and told him he had ‘abused park...

Some random facts about Lai Han
frittancy-nittacy:
I like to talk about sex. The thought of it makes me laugh.
I hate female clothes and especially hate being part of the female species. Everything sucks. Breast bounces while running, having periods every month and then not being able dip myself in water. Sucks right?
I think playing with my phlegm is cool.
I’m super curious to know what would happen if I drank Tongkat...

I've been tagged
Rules: Once you’ve been tagged, you are supposed to write a note with 16 random things, facts, habits, or goals about you. At the end, choose 16 people to be tagged. You have to tag the person who tagged you. If I tagged you, it’s because I want to know more about you.
I have a crush on someone.
I’d choose tea or plain water over coffee any day.
I’m a student pilot.
I wish I was...

A review of today's events
Went shopping at Vivo City with my mum and sister to spend some quality “mother-to-son-and-daughther” time. Here are some of the things I got:
A pair of Rip Curl thongs/slippers/flip flops… whatever you prefer to call them
A pair of Converse shoes + extra matching laces
Boost Juice
A Nike bag
A stationary case for school
Stationary for the stationary case
Pudding Milk Tea
Chocolate...

Microsoft still fails
The epic failure around the distribution of the Windows 7 public beta download is something they should be ashamed of. Microsoft’s web servers fell to their knees under the pressure of constant web page refreshes by eager and willing enthusiasts who want to volunteer their time to test Windows 7 after Steve Ballmer’s announcement that the download would be available today.
But sure,...

I get to see people changing
Chong Aik: You should take up dancing as a career when you take your one year break.
Taufiq: Why dancing?
Chong Aik: Cos you get to see people changing, you get prize money when you win, you get sponsors when you're good, you meet friends all over the world and you get to fly back to Singapore.
Taufiq: So how/when did you start your dancing career?
Chong AIk: When I saw people changing.
Taufiq: LOL!

Pluck out the tomatoes
I just got back from my mindless wandering escapade.
I gave myself three hours to think things through, and a lot went thorough my mind. But now, I would like to thank two people in my life. Amy and Rachel. I don’t think I say this enough but I am so grateful for having both of you in my life.
Thank you Amy. Thank you Rachel. ♥
From today, I’ll be smiling more. Lots more. Oh, and...

Grilled Chicken!
flyingbytokyo:
The greatest discovery I’ve had in years.
Grilled Chicken Burgers from McDonalds are available in Singapore, FINALLY! They have a similar variety in Australia (seared chicken) which I absolutely love.
Grilling and searing meat is two very different styles of cooking. Tasty nontheless.
