I'm in Singapore!

Thursday July 3, 2008, 10:00PM

So, I’m currently on my flight to Singapore (TR 717) and it’s shit. Seriously. I hoping this would be my first and last time flying with a low cost carrier. The ‘bad’ experience began right from the beginning… at the airport. Firstly, the plane was delayed by almost an hour. When the plane finally arrived, both the ground and cabin crew didn’t even have the courtesy of apologising for the delay. The boarding process was rushed and uneventful. The cabin atmosphere was so bad, it looked like it hasn’t been cleaned in ages. The carpets were full of dirt. The seats were all torn and ripped at the edges, and the seat belts aren’t even working right! The cabin air is also very hot and stuffy. But these are just minor inconveniences that comes with flying on a low cost carrier, so I’m trying not to worry too much about it.

I see lights on the ground… Bye Perth people! Anyway, I’m seated in 19D, with my brother next to me (19E) and this random white guy (19F) who’s sleeping while listening to his iPod. He looks so cute! He’s wearing a black long sleeved shirt and jeans (like me!). He’s blond. Oops, I hope he didn’t read that. Oh, now the guy in front of me (18D) just reclined his seat, so I can’t use my laptop on the tray tables. The seat pitch is so small, I barely have room to stretch my legs out. Hmm… what else can I write about? Oh! One of the cabin crew member’s wearing skinny jeans! How cool is that? And they’re selling stuff to people now.

Would you like to purchase a hot meal sir?
No thanks :)

Slight turbulence on this flight. We were flying through a thunderstorm during takeoff. Oh, the cute guy’s snoring now. Hehehe.

10:15PM

About four and a half hours to go… great. And I only have two hours of battery power left!!! Browsing through my files and applications… looking for something that I can do.

10:30PM

So here’s what I plan to do:

  • Re-organize all my files
  • Do a little bit of image editing
  • Play a few rounds of Nibbles
  • Update blog periodicaly

Battery Power situation:

  • I’ll continue using my laptop as power permits
  • If it runs out of power, I’ll switch to my trusty notebook and pen to update the latest happenings on the flight, and read Joan Makes History for entertainment

10:40PM

BABY CRYING!!!!! Pretty much everyone on board’s still awake.

11:00PM

Baby now crying even louder! Oh, hahahaha. As soon as I typed that the baby stopped. One and a half hours of battery power left. Oh and I’m gonna call the cute guy 19F, because he’s seated there. 19F’s music is really loud. It’s blasting off his earphones… but the music’s good though.

Do you think it’s a good idea to blast off 4 Minutes by Madonna from my laptop speakers, and start dancing along the aisle?

11:04PM

The cabin crew did another stupid mistake by blasting off an announcement while everyone was almost sleeping. Worse thing is that no one could understand it. Even I can’t understand it. It was like “Oubxs infright shopxvs is hmsnow opimaen, preaseease do not heshitaitate to ask oubxs cabin crew if you have any qureseries.”

11:10PM

Finally, one thing they did right, dim the cabin lights for our comfort. In fact, I actually think they should switch off the lights altogether.

WOULD THE PERSON SEATING BEHIND ME (20D), FUCKING STOP KICKING ME!

Awww, 19F looks so cute with his face up, tongue sticking out… drooling. LOL

11:20PM

Change of plans. If my laptop power does run out, I’ll just go to sleep. I’ll still continue updating you on my flight though, that is, if something interesting happens.

11:40PM

19F woke up, he’s choosing a new playlist to play on his iPod.

11:45PM

Stuff the laptop, I’m going to sleep now.

Thursday July 3, 2008, 02:00AM

Good morning everybody! Everyone around me is still fast asleep… except for the baby. It’s still crying.

Captian just made an announcement, obviously waking everyone up, because we’re landing in thirty minutes! How exciting.

This will be my last update onboard. The next one will be when I’m on the ground.

02:50AM

I’m in Singapore baybeh! Mum and Nadiah were at the airport to pick us up. My brother and I were really hungry, so we stopped by a food center (one of the best things about Singapore is that you can get anything you want 24/7) and ordered something to eat. I decided to get Black Pepper Beef Hor Fun, which is a chinese dish.

04:00AM

All done eating, and we’re now heading home.

Remember, the best way to receive consistant updates on my stay here in Singapore, is through my Twitter.
