Yeah, we’re Year 12 students…

Today in Art & Design, Simone and I decided to “customise” Brad’s t-shirt for him. The cats, mustache and all that glitter… You can just tell from the smile on Brad’s face that he loves it.

Mixed Signals, another piece from Zoe Crook in the Year 12 Perspectives 2008 exhibition.
Mixed Signals
“It is well known that contemporary society has its many pressures, yet it cannot be denied it also has its benefits. Mixed signals is a testament to this, representing the things that are most important to myself yet also the things that can become ultimately distracting and make self discovery all the more complicated. Inspired by a variety of artists including Annette Bezor and U.R Morrison, I felt I should test my abilities and limits as a painter, fortunately resulting in the realistic style of the work.”

Year 12 Perspectives 2008 exhibition - People’s Choice Award Winner: Zoe Crook from Geraldton Grammar School.
Bella Vista
“Through this piece I wanted to re-create that strange atmosphere that accompanies a closing time. Inspired by Leslie Rice, the 2007 Doug Moran Portrait Prize winner, I chose to use black velvet and oils as my medium as it allowed such a beautiful aura to be captured. The figure of Bella Vista works alone in the still quiet, content with his place. I aimed to capture that freshness that the black night holds, blanketing the once.”

Bye-bye Art room. We’ve had some good times together over the past two and a half years. I’ve produced some amazing pieces in there that I’m extremely proud of.
But sadly, it’s time to go.

I realised that over the past two and a half years that we have had our art classes in this room, my friends and I sat at every desk across the entire room, before landing at a spot all the way at the front of the room, next to the teacher and the main entry.

Hopefully it won’t take us another two and a half years, just to find our favourite spot in the new room.

From next semester, my Art & Design class will be using a brand new art room. Caitlin, Devin, Simone and I spent one hour today helping Ms Whiteside move things over to the new studio.

I’ve had my art classes in this room for two and a half years now. We couldn’t properly say goodbye to the room unless we took some pictures on Photo Booth!

80's themed Art lesson

I love my art classes. Both TEE Art and Art & Design. Why? Because all we do is talk (often about sex), gossip, laugh, eat and tease Brad. But more importantly, its also a time for us to be creative.

Today, Evonne brought in an 80’s mix CD for the TEE Art class to listen to. We couldn’t stop dancing and singing. It was awesome. Brad even managed to rickroll the class. Then we got to the song ‘99 Red Balloons’, which somehow became ‘99 Words for Boobs’ (NSFW).

Still life, Still Alive. TEE Art Project 1: Take 2
Currently in the art room in school with Brad, Tyla, Jodie and Hayley, working on my resubmission for my art project. This is what I have so far… you can’t really see the detail in the picture, and I still have a lot more to do with it. I hope it works out this time.

That's a little bit immature

I had Art History during the last session of school today, and we were split up into groups of three to complete a worksheet on an artist that the teacher had assigned us to.

I was highly sad because I had to join another group, away from my usual art buddies, Caitlin, Hend and Brad. And I’m also very jealous of Hend’s final art piece for project one, because it is fucking awesome and it’s better than mine. I know that’s a little bit immature for a Year 12 student, but sometimes the kid in me bites back.

I wanted to use and show off my Art analytical skills to describe this piece, but I just couldn’t find the right words. My first reaction to it was ‘contradictorily amazing’.
