I distinctly remember the times when I would walk around the driveway of my old house in Changi and pick up these deliciously red Saga seeds and collect them in a cup or bowl.
They’re not edible by the way, but they look so bright and red - reminds me of red M&Ms! The simple things I do to pass the time when I was a little boy…

Another country on my travel list, Singapore. It’s amazing that 4 million are in just that one small little country.
I’m leaving Singapore this afternoon. Love this country! Goodbye tropical weather, cheap shopping, fast-paced urban lifestyle, fantastic food and warm and friendly people.

My flight today got delayed because of an unspecified problem. We were already taxiing when we had to return back to the gate, so that engineers could come in and try to fix the problem.
We were off about an hour or so behind time, and the flight time got further delayed due to strong headwinds.
My mum picked me up at the airport… Soooooo good to see her again. Looking forward to my week here in Singapore!
Old Singapore Airport - Paya Lebar, 1978
Probably one of my most valuable findings on YouTube in a while.
1) At it’s time, Paya Lebar Airport was described as “aggressively sleek”, with its futuristic octagonal control tower and modernist right angles. But compare it to the current Changi Airport, and its world’s apart.
2) This clip is from the 1979 film, Saint Jack, directed by Peter Bogdanovich - A film that depicted Singapore as being a hotbed of corruption and sleaze.
Knowing full well that the Singaporean authorities would never sanction a film like this, the script that Peter Bogdanovich submitted to them had been specially rewritten with all the contentious elements removed.
When the film was completed, the Singaporean authorities were horrified to see the true nature of the film and subsequently banned it. The ban for this film was lifted on March 2006, and is rated M18.

Singaporean noodles

and studying maths
Contrary to popular belief in the West, the dish “Singapore noodles” does not exist in Singapore, nor is it a cultural product of Singapore.
According to Wikipedia, “Its naming may have been based on the stereotype that Singapore cuisine is generally spicy, and might have originated from an enterprising restauranteur eager to add a dash of exoticism to his menu.”

That’s me, on the night of January 9 this year, standing on a ledge about 15 feet in the air, holding on to a lampost on one hand, and a Starbucks Java Chip Frappuccino on the other. I love my life.

My friends (in Singapore) had organised dinner and a night out for tomorrow, thinking that I’m in Singapore right now. I don’t come back till next month. I feel bad and stupid for giving them the wrong information now. Sorry!

[Flash 9 is required to listen to audio.]National Day Parade 09 - Little Red Dot
I’ve never ever liked the songs that they compose for the national day parades, but this year’s soundtrack is pretty good. Check out Fast Forward, The First Wave and Our Heart Land too!

Because I’m watching this year’s National Day Parade with Nessa over at her place, I thought it’d be fun to have our own funpack. Sure, mine doesn’t come with a messenger/tote bag but I reckon the contents are more awesome than the official one. :p
Are thoes Uncle Tobys Yoghurt Topps Muesli Bars up there? Hehehe… Awesome! I wish I had a minature Singapore flag to wave around when I watch the parade later.

Pledge ourselves as one united people,
Regardless of race, language or religion,
To build a democratic society, based on justice and equality,
So as to achieve happiness, prosperity and progress for our nation.

I miss Singapore. I can’t wait for the new developments around the city to be ready (most are scheduled to be completed by early next year). And yes, that is a stadium… floating on the water.
